Segel is embarking on her first fiction podcast project with “Hellhound Country,” which also marks Rogue Media Network’s debut in this format.
WACO, Texas, Dec. 16, 2024 — Alexandra Segel, partnered with Rogue Media Network, a rising company in the podcasting industry, launched her series “Hellhound Country” , an in-house production turned into an audio fiction podcast.
Segel is embarking on her first fiction podcast project with “Hellhound Country,” which also marks Rogue Media Network’s debut in this format. Despite this being her first step into the audio side of media, the “Hellhound Country” scripts earned a top-ten ranking in the fiction podcast category at the 2023 Austin Film Festival, placing in the top 2% of over 11,000 entries.
“The audio industry is so niche, and it’s such a challenge for screenwriters. We’re taught in school ‘show, don’t tell,’ and audio is the reverse of that,” Segel said. “It’s pretty amazing to see this come to life.”
Segel emphasizes the significance of creating a female-dominated podcast, a rarity in the industry that holds personal importance for her. She strives to push creative boundaries and foster underrepresented demographics in media.
“If a crowd were made up of 60% men and 40% women, it would look like a normal crowd. If it were reversed, someone would notice. We don’t see a female-dominated cast often,” Segel said.
The first season of Hellhound Country will consist of 10 episodes, each lasting 15 to 25 minutes. Listeners are encouraged to use major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
